Covid-19 'Long Covid' and ME/CFS
We know that any viral illness will be followed by a post-viral phase. During this time the body is theoretically in “recovery mode”. Cognition in Young People with ME/CFS One of the main reasons that young people with ME/CFS struggle with school is associated with cognition. Mental confusion, memory problems and difficulties with concentration are all described and may relate to abnormal neurological pathology, sluggish cerebral circulation and generalized fatigue. Many people with Chronic Fatigue Syndrome are fearful of admitting or acknowledging that stress maybe a factor in their illness. First of all we need to decide what we mean by supplements. They are in fact extras that we take, over and above what we normally obtain in the daily diet, and for most of us, the diet is more than adequate. Sleep Management Most people with Chronic Fatigue Syndrome (ME/CFS) have a sleep disorder, though many do not recognise this as such. In the early stages of the illness there is often a need to sleep for very long periods of time, but as the illness progresses, there may be difficulties in falling asleep with restlessness throughout the night and early morning waking. Click here to download full handout. Information for teachers Chronic Fatigue Syndrome/Myalgic Encephalomyelitis (CFS/ME) is a serious illness that can affect all age groups. It leaves sufferers exhausted after minimal activity, and is characterised by many different symptoms.
